Justin
From the camping trip in Carlsbad. I thought this was appropriate for October / Halloween season and all 😉 This is Justin, Mar & Jesse’s nephew, on October 8th while we were sitting around the camp fire. What’s better than using flashlights and LEDs to make scary faces? Taking pictures of scary faces 😉

Perfect (cape) weather
I was in California last week, camping at the beach in Carlsbad. Somehow it decided to get really cold in Utah and even snow– so I enjoyed telling people back home that we were experiencing perfect weather (70s, a little breezy, mostly sunny, etc…). However, while I described it as “perfect weather”… Shawn described it…

Music for the Road
So I listened to a song last night and was reminded of how great of a driving song it was.

I wonder what kind of indicator it might be…
…if all I want for breakfast is chocolate? I couldn’t yank myself out of bed early enough to make breakfast before I had to be to work, so I took a swig of Darigold chocolate milk on my way out the door and then stopped at possibly the worst place to get breakfast on the…

Sunset in September
Here’s some wide-angle goodness. Shot @ 10mm, ISO 400, 1/125, f/3.5. (That ends up being about 16mm in terms of 35mm / full frame cameras).

Rainbow
Alright, here’s another quick one. This almost imitates an HDR photo… only used one exposure, though. My favorite thing about this was that through processing it, I found there was a second rainbow above the first that wasn’t really very noticeable in the original (and I certainly don’t remember seeing it when I took the…

Something different…
Just playing with some new stuff in photoshop. A little too much artifacting near the top, but I was too lazy to tinker much with it and hence just gave it some blur. I do like the effect, especially with the tree and the color around it… kinda surreal, between painting and photo.

Taste the Rainbow
Apple had a little press event today to intro iTunes 8 and all the latest iPod revisions. I wondered if I would be compelled to buy a new iPod this year… last year I bought 2 (160gb Classic– my 80gb was FULL– and a 16gb iPod Touch). This year? The only thing tempting me is…

So long, summer
I thought I’d miss summer more– I’ve always loved summer so much. But I’m finding fall a welcome change of temperature, not to mention plenty of good stuff on the way: Zion’s this weekend, Oktoberfest, San Diego next month, Halloween and all the activities related to it in October, FOOTBALL… yeah, life is good right…

Who knew liquid cancer would taste so good?
During my freshman year of college it was a rare exception to get to sleep before 3am. In fact, I remember going to bed early one night– a little after 1am– because I was sick, hehe. I was at BYU, living in the dorms (Deseret Towers, which are pretty much gone now, aren’t they? Weird.),…

Sunset in August
I never tire of sunsets. Though there certainly seems to be a pallet of colors God is working with, no two are ever identical. I loved how brilliant the colors were this evening:

Princess Diary
I’m in a bit of a punchy mood at the moment. Have you ever watched Wipeout on ABC? Oh my, that show makes me laugh. I don’t often post youtube clips, but this is one I could watch over and over. If you’re bored and have some time, check it out. (or just spend some…

Escargots
Josh: “I had escargots…” Mike: *I wonder if vegetarians would eat escargots… I mean, is there such a thing as cruelty to snails that actually leads to them being on someone’s plate? I’m pretty sure they’re too salty when I get done with them* Mike: *also, I wonder if Josh took pictures. I’ve never actually…

Dusk
Ah, would have been a good time to try HDR photography if I’d had a tripod and more than just a point and shoot on me. You see absolutely none of the dark blue that was in the sky when I took this photo– it complemented the temple perfectly.
